TAMIL NADU

There are many famous temples to visit, each of which has uniqueness to itself. While the 1000 years old Tanjore Big Temple is constructed in such a way that the shadow of its main gopura never falls on the ground (Now, how amazing is that!), the magnificent Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai has musical pillars, the Ramanathaswamy temple in Rameshwaram holds a hall with 1000 pillars, the 3000 years old Kumari Amman temple at Kanyakumari is dedicated to the virgin goddess by the same name stands at the edge of the ocean. The Holiday Navigator offers various Tamil Nadu tour packages covering the major tourist destinations. We also organize various other South India tour packages which can be best enjoyed with family and friends.

The French influenced town on Pondicherry offers a glimpse of French culture and cuisine in this part of India. Chettinadu, a prosperous banking and business community will amaze you with its local architecture and mouth-watering cuisine. Explore the 3000 years old city of Madurai also called as “Thoonga Nagaram” (meaning the city that never sleeps). Cape comorin or Kanya Kumari is the southern-most tip of India and a point where the three water bodiessa – the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal meet.

SHORT TRIP

Top activities to do

Bullock-cart ride

Many of the villages still use bullock-cart rides and it is one the best ways to explore the place. The experience takes you back to a time when there was no car or bikes.

Morning walk around the Meenakshi Amman Temple

The historic town of Madurai is built around the walls of Meenakshi Amman Temple. Take an early morning walk which includes experiences like witnessing kolam (a ritual of making designs from rice flour in the entrance of the house as a welcome to the God’s as well as a food for ants and other insects), milking of cow, selling of rice batter, breakfast in one of the street markets, the busy vegetable and fruit markets etc. You get to see the local life and can also interact with the locals if interested.

Nilgiri Toy train ride

An amazing steam train joy ride weaving through forests, along the valleys and into the dark winding tunnels, offering the beautiful views of the hill-city is a must do.
